Guided Tour of Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak/Chicagoland

Kick off Earth Month with sustainNU! Our first event of the month is a guided tour of the Block Museum’s exhibit, Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak/Chicagoland. This dynamic collection gives voice to the history of Indigenous peoples in what is now known as Chicagoland. The exhibit weaves together artworks to tell personal and collective stories and make connections between humans and the natural 宅男福利导航.
Join us for this tour of the exhibit with unique insights from a Block 宅男福利导航 Associate.
Sustainability Best Practices Fair: Learn. Act. Impact!
When: Tuesday, April 15, 11-1pm
Where: Norris, Louis Room
Join us at the annual Earth Month Fair to learn more about what's happening on campus and what you can do to reduce your 宅男福利导航al impact in support of a more sustainable planet. Featuring student groups, campus partners, ways to incorporate sustainability into your daily life, fun green giveaways, and a raffle!
Small succulent plants will be available, and attendees can replant them in a custom pot during the fair. Artica Studios will host pot decoration using unique repurposed materials!

Join sustainNU and Human Resources for this informative brown bag on reducing waste, recycling effectively, and adopting sustainable habits in everyday life. Learn practical tips on minimizing waste at work and home, understand what can and cannot be recycled, and feel empowered to make choices to reduce your 宅男福利导航al footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. Sustainability on campus and in the world beyond is a collaborative effort and every small action makes a difference. All are welcome to attend!

The Challenges in Getting to Net-Zero Global Greenhouse Emissions

Throughout human history, multiple industrial and agricultural revolutions have profoundly transformed the world. The unintended consequence of these revolutions is that greenhouse gas emissions are changing the Earth’s climate. Most of our energy and many of the materials we use are sourced from fossil fuels. The challenges of how to provide clean energy, water, air, and food in a world of over 8 billion people—likely to grow to 11 billion by 2100—are formidable. This lecture by Nobel laureate and former U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu is on the challenging path to net-zero emissions. Hosted by the Institute for Policy Research and Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy.
Chicago Energy Conference, Bridging the Gap: Policies, Techologies, and Investments Needed for a New Energy Age

Join the inaugural Chicago Energy Conference hosted by the 宅男福利导航 Energy and Sustainability Club and University of Chicago Energy & Climate Club to explore the technologies, policies, and investments needed to meet energy demands while advancing decarbonization. Expect keynote speakers like Kate Ringness, former DOE Senior Advisor; panels on topics such as nuclear energy, grid reliability, and clean energy finance; and networking with top professionals and students in the field!
Kellogg Climate Conference, Now & Next: Accelerating Present Solutions and Discovering Future Opportunities for a Sustainable Climate
When: Wednesday, April 16, 9a – 5pm
Where: Kellogg Global Hub
The Kellogg Climate Conference brings together students, faculty, industry leaders and other stakeholders within the climate ecosystem. For one day, keynote speakers, moderators and panelists inspire and empower attendees by sharing their thought leadership on topics related to the climate transition. Through multiple networking opportunities, organizers hope that students can find a sense of community here and potentially explore career opportunities.
